PONYVILLE NEWS CRAWL: THE CREATOR SPEAKS; ECHO EFFECT ADDED
Hello, Ponyville readers!

It's clear by now that I do not know what the future holds for the Ponyville comic. I don't want you to assume that this prolonged hiatus is writing on the wall, that the comic has gone the way of Roo's youth. [info]ponyville is not yet snarling at passers-by, weilding a broom, losing its teeth.

Also clear, what's keeping me from updating is not easily circumvented. My creative energy and time has to go towards finishing school with my music degree, and a coming summer internship. (Couldn't I intern in Ponyville? But on second thought...)

As you know, I've been conflicted about whether it's best to give the comic the mercy killing that Roo never got. But I've decided that's not going to happen. I think I can figure out a way to let the comic evolve into something enjoyable and manageable.

I've discussed, with friends of mine who create comics themselves, doing an overhaul of the PV format. Perhaps a refocusing of storylines, but certainly a change to how the comic looks. It will likely get a bit sketchy (literally!), but I welcome this, and hope it won't be a jarring change for you.

I want to sincerely thank you all for sticking with Ponyville. Unless the majority of journals still watching the comic are now abandoned, many of you are still here, and I am encouraged by this!

I can't help but expect Sweetberry to throw cats at me. If she wants to start with the Jerome down in front, that'd be fine. (The shadows in that panel are awesome, by the way.)

I don't like change!! *stress* But I like Ponyville! *hooray* So everything balances out in the end. ^_^ I can't wait to see what's ahead for the comic.

I was excited about the shadows. Everything was looking so flat and wrong, and I was all boo-hooing about having to sacrifice aesthetics for speed, when I realized that a TV would cast a very distinct and easily created shadow, and then I was happy again.

Let us hope Sweetberry is someday provoked to the point of dispersing cats.

As for sneaky background things, I enjoy the Edible Mugs and the foreboding shadows in Sweetberry's panel.

I don't know that Mayor Pie is change-tested. I don't know that he's built up immunity.

Alas, edible mugs are a repeat from a past strip, the one with Roo's halloween close-up. I went back and read the old strips, and that was the only thing I laughed out loud at. ::facepalm::

Mayor Pie and change have never met; I feel confident of that.

How did I miss the edible mugs? *searches and discovers* Still popular after all these years! Also, Wysteria's Halloween costume for '07 totally looks like a Breezie.

*has not abandoned journal! is still here!* And I'll stick around unless you go so far as to delete the journal. And even then I'll keep it added, in case you decide to undelete it! (I have a friend who did that constantly -_-) And even after 30 days is up I'll still have it added...just because I'm too lazy and forgetful to take it off. Just do what you feel is best for the comic. ^^

Thank you! :) It's a great feeling having die-hard support. I feel a responsibility to keep up my end of the bargain in that light, but it's comforting to know that I can screw up here and there and not alienate PV's core readers.

You are definitely not the only one of the online comic peoples that have a hard time continuing because of real life stuff and fluff. No worries, school should obviously take precedent. I enjoy reading and discussing ponyville when it is posted and I know that really awesome things can be found in the looseness of the sketch. Comic on~!

I enjoy looking at sketches too. Animation storyboards come to mind, and while I love those, I expect PV will still have some appearance of smoothness.

At least PV won't become sketchy in the Ki'ono sense of the word.

It's really awesome to know that, regardless of the length of hiatus or the infrequency of updates, Ponyville has die-hard fans. Thank you for being one of them.

YAY PONYVILLE. I will hang on to this comic and love it and squeeze it no matter how much time elapses between updates. Ponyville is a shark, and I am a comics remora.

I'm using one of your own icons to comment in this post because it's relevant to the theme. I hope that's okay(?). I got a cat recently and now this is my favorite icon for all my cat-related squee posts.
