Today's strip was subject to an experiment. Comics usually take 10 hours, on average, to complete, but I wanted to see what I could create in only half that time, maximum. Visually it's notably more rough, and my perfectionism is tingling, but I'm hoping to find ways to make updating consistatly an easier endeavor.



("The Fourth Wall" is the imaginary boundary beween and audience and the characters on stage/television/etc.. When a character turns to the "camera" and addresses the audience, that's called "breaking the fourth wall.")

*And of course, please break my walls with comments. ;)

I like how you drew the bugs. It's fun to see the Spoosh-style used on things other than ponies. You should totally make a comic with penguins. Or Sheep. Or both. LOL

Ooo giraffes. There should be a ponyville zoo trip with lots of Spooshtastic animals. (Spooshimals?)

BTW, Re: the half the time spent thing, the only thing I really noticed about the comic was the lack of background stuff, but I don't know if that was because of your time-restraint or just because the Mayor's new house is rather barren lol. One of the things I really like about your comics is all the amusing weird shit you tend to hide in the background. (Like a rag on a stick LMAO.)

I DID! ::pats self on back:: I've been sitting on this one for over a year. (It was originally going to be Minty and Dash in an apartment-cleaning gag, but I liked this as a Mayor/Squash joke better).

LOL! I love fourth wall gags. For a second, I thought Pie was talking to me! I mean, why not? Kimono talks to her audience all the time. :P I especially love the new house angle, for obvious reasons.

I can see some differences here, but none of them bothers me. The inking seems different. Did you try your hand at digital inking?

:D While I was SLAPPING this one together (or at least it felt like it.. "MUST COME UP FOR AIR!") I considered more than once that you might like the new house angle. In fact, as I mentioned to Jean, this had originally been a Minty/Dash comic when I thought of the idea a year or so ago - maybe it was all the moving and house buying I've been reading about lately that helped me come up with the new Pie twist. :)

I definately did *not* ink digitally. H'OMG, that would have taken 15 instead of 5 hours, lol. "Analog" is still the quickest way for me (even if I have todo a number of revisions, which I kept to a minimum this time, hense some ugliness).

I never would've guessed you spent less time on this strip if you hadn't mentioned it. The only thing missing is the level of detail you usually include, and that could be because Pie hasn't finished moving his collection of Wife mugs in yet.

He went and moved into a new home without leaving a forwarding address. I'm not sure whether to assume he was just absent-minded or if he was giving me the brush off!

While I've heard that expression before, I'm really glad you explained it because I certainly did not remember. It's good that you assume Ponyville is enjoyed by Teh Stupid too. ;)

I can't believe Mayor didn't see the family resemblence between himself and the termites. ^_^

I got it without the explanation. ^^ That's just how classy I am. Nice to see the comic's back! And those are some freaky-looking termites! I can't help but wonder if that's actually what breezie larvae look like.

Nice to see Pie can afford a summer home. Maybe we'll get to see some wild sea ponies while he's out vacationing?

Heehee - I love how he's holding his monocle in one hoof for that first panel. ^_^ Makes me wonder though - since none of the other facial lines are distorted from the lens, does this mean his one eye is that big normally, and he's wear the monocle to cover it up? :D

Haven't read POnyville since its inception so long ago, but I was pleased to find out its still going strong. Just read through the archive and laughed out loud more than once, which is saying something. The decrease in quality by shortening your production time by 5 hours is hardly noticeable. If that means we get to read more comics, then by all means, go for it. The quality is still great! Toss in a really good quality one for special events and I think everything will be just peachy! Thanks for all your hard work in producing this strip!!
