| The Ponyville Printer Initiative |

A bump in the Ponyville road. (The Mayor needs to allocate money for road repair).
You may have noticed the lack of Ponyville. An even bigger lack-of than has become the norm this year. On a sad, rainy June evening, my printer printed its last rights. Dead. The foul stench of its decomposing printery carcas looms in my computer room. I can't decide whether to bury him at sea or in a respectable dumpster.
Ponyville is an "All hardware on deck!" process, and use of the printer is a necessary and integral step. (Scan, print, ink, repeat..) So until I can replace my printer, which I've sadly realized I can't afford to do, I'm afraid PV is going to be on an even more sporadic schedule, if on a schedule at all. I am visiting home this coming week, and could use my family's printer to get some work done. I am willing to drive back and forth from campus in order to print too, but this will elongate the Ponyville birthing process a great deal; that kind of time I don't have.
I had hopes of reigniting the comic this summer, but unfortunately I am in a position where my time is dedicated to making money. I am a slave to The Man (who I'd totally whack with a broom if I could). Spooshy needs a place to live this Fall, and a printer can't infiltrate my budget.
So, I feel kind of weird proposing this, but hopeful at the same time: I am proposing, with all the style of Mayor Pie, the "Ponyville Printer Initiative," which relies on the generosity of you, dear readers. Really, the only way I see being able to get a printer any time soon is through charity, and so I hope you don't mind that I ask you if you'd care to donate to the cause.
If you enjoy Ponyville and would like to see it return to form, and could spair any kind of moneyz to help me out, please donate by clicking the button at the bottom of this entry.
But wait! There's more! This will work as both a raffle and a rewards program. Anybody who donates at least $0.50 will be privy to a special "thank you" mini-strip, whether we raise enough money for a printer or not. You will be getting something in return. ::elbow nudge::
And perhaps more enticing, anybody who donates more than $1 will be entered into a raffle for prizes. For every dollar you donate, you get 1 raffle ticket. If I am able to purchase a printer on the wings of your donations, I will then use one of those random-number-generater-raffle websites to draw for prizes. 3 people will win a free colored commission, and 3 more people will win a sketched commission.. Your numbers will be assigned based on the time at which you donate. Say that Person A donates $3, and person B donates $2 a few minutes later. Peron A's raffle numbers will be 1, 2, and 3, while Person B's numbers would be 4 and 5. If #3 is drawn as a winner, then Person A wins the colored commission of his/her choice. (If you donate more than once, numbers will still be assigned sequentially; the same person can win both a sketch and a colored commission, but not more than one of each).
I will keep you updated about the donation total. I hope to raise $150. I don't have a specific printer model decided on yet, but the printers I am interested in all range between $120 and $175. This printer will be one of those new models that use 5 cheap cartridges for color rather than 1 expensive one. (And if anyone has an adamant suggestion for what kind of printer I should be aiming for, please suggest!) I will decide on a model shortly and update you. :)
Click the donation button below to send money to my Paypal account. I am pretty sure that Paypal allows you to donate even if you don't have a Paypal account, although I am not yet sure how that works. If you would like to donate but can only send a cash or check, that's ok too: please contact me for my home address. (Raffle numbers for snail mail payments will be assigned when I receive the money).
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to ask.
I would truly, truly appreciate any help you can give. I've love to get Ponyville back up and running again.
(At some point in the donation process it will have a blank asking for your LiveJournal user name. Please supply your LJ name so I know who's donating. :))
(And if you want to pay by credit/debit card via Paypal, please use the below button instead. The top button can be used for Paypal payments that come directly from your Paypal balance or bank account)
